BB-BirdQuiz
Will vapor work on your birds?

Bird Control for Aircraft Hangars

Birds in your hangar are not a maintenance issue.

They’re a high-stakes liability.

Paint damage and airframe corrosion. Structural degradation. Nest debris near an engine intake. Avionics, wiring and electrical damage. Crews doing hazardous cleanups instead of maintenance. And bird damage is often excluded from hangar insurance policies, meaning that exposure sits with you.

Traditional bird deterrents don’t work in hangars.
The BirdBuffer Q4 does.

Why don't traditional bird deterrents work in hangars?

A hangar’s unique environment breaks every conventional method of keeping birds away.
Doors that stay open all day, 60-foot ceilings and open rafters, dozens of hard-to-reach beams, catwalks and perches, aircraft throughways and more. Point protection and habituation-prone devices cannot hold the line here.
Bird Netting

Sags, tears and develops gaps over time. Has to be routed around doors, lifts and overhead equipment without restricting aircraft movement, and does nothing for birds entering through open hangar doors.

Sonic and Ultrasonic Repellants
Ultrasonic efficacy is not demonstrated. Most birds can’t hear above ~20 kHz. Birds habituate to audible sonic devices and return.
Optical and Holographic Gels

Point-application only. Every beam and fixture needs its own dishes, and it isn’t meant for the vertical surfaces where birds still nest.

Lighting and Habitat Controls
High rafters and open access make a steel hangar attractive to birds, whether other incentives or disincentives are at play.
Bird Spikes
Ineffective for small birds, which perch between prongs or use spikes as nest-building framework. Birds relocate to the nearest untreated surface.
Bird Slides, Tracks, and Electric Barriers

Point protection only. To be effective, the bird must land on the exact treated surface. A hangar has hundreds of untreated beams, catwalks and light fixtures to use instead.

Laser Deterrents

Sunlight significantly reduces beam visibility, making lasers largely ineffective in daylight conditions. Use near people, aircraft glass and active flight lines is prohibited.

Noise Deterrents (Propane Cannons, Pyrotechnics)
Birds habituate fast, especially to stationary devices. Auditory deterrents are noise pollution and disruptive to people working in and around the hangar.
Visual Deterrents
Birds learn quickly there is no real threat. Effectiveness is highly variable and temporary, if present at all.
Smaller-Scale MA Foggers
Same active ingredient as the Q4, but efficacy varies widely with real-world conditions: the size and scale of the area (especially an expansive hangar) plus wind, sunlight exposure and small-dose dissipation rate. Can be used in combination with the Q4 for extra zone support.

BirdBuffer Q4 Continuous Vapor Field

The Only Bird Control Solution for Aircraft Hangars

A bunch of grapes and a BirdBuffer vapor machine
Automated, continuous dispersal maintains methyl anthranilate concentration through the full hangar volume. Concentration never has time to drop below the threshold birds respond to, and coverage is volumetric rather than tied to a single treated surface.
360˚ protection
Continuous dispersion
Invisible & safe

Covers up to 500,000 Cubic Feet

The only bird deterrent engineered for high-stakes industrial environments.

The Q4 System creates a continuous field of vaporized methyl anthranilate across hangar-scale volume. Birds will not stay inside the vapor field, so the containment area stays empty, not just the treated surfaces.

Volumetric Coverage
A single Q4 clears volumes up to 500,000 cubic feet (~15,000 cubic meters). The Q4-2 delivers over one-and-a-half times the output where a stronger MA concentration is needed.
Built for doors that stay open

Continuous dispersal replaces what an open bay door carries off, so the vapor field always holds.

60-foot ceilings, indoor & outdoor layouts
With correct placement, rafters, catwalks and apron-side areas can be covered in the same vapor field. High ceilings and open structures are not obstacles for effective Q4 deployment.

Plant-Based & Non-ToxiC

The Q4 disperses a concentrated grape skin extract safe for people and birds.
